Terms and conditions for using our platform

By accessing or using Laravel, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Laravel (the "Platform," "Service," or "we"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and all applicable laws and regulations. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Laravel.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform following any changes to these Terms will constitute your acceptance of such changes.

These Terms apply to all users of the Platform, including but not limited to students, teachers, parents, administrators, district officials, and any other users accessing the Service.

2. User Accounts

2.1 Account Creation

  • Accounts are typically created and managed by your educational institution's administrators
  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process
  • Users must be at least 13 years old, or have obtained parental/guardian consent where required
  • Each user must have a unique account; account sharing is prohibited

2.2 Account Security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized access or security breaches
  • You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • We recommend using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication when available

3. Acceptable Use Policy

You May:

  • Use the Platform for educational purposes
  • Submit assignments and complete coursework
  • Participate in class discussions respectfully
  • Communicate appropriately with peers and instructors
  • Share educational resources within proper channels
  • Access your academic records and progress

You May Not:

  • Use the Platform for illegal purposes
  • Harass, bully, or threaten other users
  • Share inappropriate or explicit content
  • Plagiarize or submit work that isn't your own
  • Attempt to access others' accounts
  • Disrupt Platform functionality or security
  • Use automated systems or bots
  • Reverse engineer the Platform

4. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property

4.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you submit to the Platform, including assignments, messages, forum posts, and uploaded files ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, reproduce, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving our Services. This license terminates when you delete your content or account, except where content has been shared with others and they have not deleted it.

4.2 Platform Content

The Platform itself, including its original content, features, functionality, design, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Laravel and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Services or included software.

4.3 Educational Materials

Educational content created by teachers (including assignments, rubrics, course materials, and assessments) remains the intellectual property of the respective teacher and/or educational institution, subject to applicable institutional policies and employment agreements.

5. Academic Integrity

All users must maintain the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity. Violations of academic integrity policies may result in disciplinary action by your institution and termination of Platform access.

Academic Integrity Requirements:

  • Submit only original work or properly cite all sources
  • Do not share answers, solutions, or completed assignments inappropriately
  • Follow your institution's specific academic integrity policies
  • Do not use unauthorized aids during assessments or examinations
  • Report suspected violations to appropriate institutional authorities

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Platform is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. We are committed to protecting your personal information and complying with all applicable privacy laws and regulations.

FERPA Compliance

We comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect student education records.

COPPA Compliance

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for users under 13.

7. Billing and Payments (Institutional Accounts)

For institutions subscribing to our paid services, the following terms apply:

  • Fees: Subscription fees are based on the pricing plan selected and student enrollment numbers
  • Billing Cycle: Fees are billed annually or as otherwise agreed in your subscription agreement
  • Renewals: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 30 days before the renewal date
  • Payment Methods: We accept purchase orders, credit cards, ACH transfers, and wire transfers
  • Late Payments: Overdue accounts may result in service suspension after a 15-day grace period
  • Refunds: Refunds are generally not provided except as required by law or as specified in your agreement

8. Account Termination and Suspension

8.1 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Platform, with or without notice, for any of the following reasons:

  • Violation of these Terms of Service
  • Engagement in prohibited activities or misuse of the Platform
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Behavior that poses security or legal risks
  • Request from your educational institution
  • Non-payment by your institution (for paid accounts)

8.2 Termination by You or Your Institution

Your institution may terminate your account when you are no longer enrolled, employed, or otherwise affiliated. Individual users may request account deletion through their profile settings or by contacting support. Upon termination, your right to access and use the Platform ceases immediately.

8.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, you will lose access to your account and all associated content. We may retain certain information as required by law or legitimate business purposes. Educational records may be retained according to institutional policies and legal requirements.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 Service Availability

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.

9.2 Educational Content

We are not responsible for the accuracy, quality, or appropriateness of educational content created by teachers or other users. Grading decisions, academic evaluations, and educational policies are determined solely by individual teachers and institutions.

9.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LARAVEL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM.

10. Additional Terms

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Laravel, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Country], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law.

Modifications to Terms

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
